Webmaps have been captured for this month and are currently being uploaded to the web server. The web page has had a minor redesign and this update and the map tiles will be released tomorrow (1 May). At present the web maps only capture updates for Volumes 1 to 6 (North Island). The Project expects to add Volume 7 in time for next month’s capture and then work towards adding the remaining volumes by the end of this year.
Since the last update the main area of the maps being worked on is in Volume 3 where mosaics of closed corridors have been prepared for the entire section from Waitoa to Thames on the Thames Branch, Paeroa to Apata on the pre-Kaimai ECMT, and part of Hawkens-Taneatua. At the moment part of Volume 6 between Upper Hutt and Featherston is in progress and with the submission shortly of a request to Linz for aerial photos relevant to Volume 6, work will switch back to completing this volume. Current aerial bases have also been obtained for several volumes, including Volume 5 (PNGL) and Volume 4 (MNPL). Notable is the high resolution (0.1m or 0.125m) aerial photography available for Napier and Gisborne in Volume 5 since the big storms several years ago.
